Kakhani Reserve, Red Semi-Dry

48 CHF

Voskevaz Kakhani Reserve is made with the renaissance of ancient Armenian winemaking traditions. Voskevaz is the first winery to use grape withering method in Armenia and since 2005 the company has been producing dessert wines Voskevaz Muscat Rosali and Voskevaz Katarine. For more than 15 years, Voskevaz has been the only company producing wines by using grape withering Kakhani method. In 2019, the company produced semi-dry wine using the "KAKHANI" method ("kakhani" comes from the Armenian word "to hang"). This is one of the oldest wine making methods in the world and we revived this wonderful Armenian tradition.

General information:
Grape varieties:  Areni , Haghtanak , Milagh.
Volume: 0.37 L
Alcohol volume: 15.5%.
Production method: The harvest usually takes place in October. After a careful hand selection, the bunches are laid, one layer high on 10-12kg boxes and then moved to our drying room. The grapes are hanged and withered on the ropes at the winery up to 4 months. During this physical process, the most evident is the drying of the bunches. The result is a higher concentration of sugars, together with other components after the grapes are placed for fermentation.

Fermentation: The grapes are destemmed and pressed. The must is fermented in Armenian 100-140 year old karases.

Aging Process: The wine was aged in Armenian oak barrels for 20 months.

Tasting description: Voskevaz Kakhani red has intense ruby red color with violet edge. Warm, spicy, powerful bouquet with intense aromas of dried cherry, bitter almond and vanilla.

Traditionally served with braised meats and fully matured cheeses.
